Jaydi Veriato
Jaydi Veriato grew up on Hawai‘i Island and can’t imagine living anywhere else. “I absolutely love it here,” she says.
Jaydi works in the environmental health and safety office at Honua Ola. She makes sure employees receive the equipment and training they need to perform their jobs safely.
She’s also responsible for compiling reports on environmental quality issues associated with the plant’s electricity generation. The reports are reviewed by the State Department of Health Clean Water Branch, and by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
For Jaydi and others who work at Honua Ola, compliance with state and federal rules and regulations is more than just mandatory paperwork.
For her, she says, it’s personal.
“We all have families here. We take our kids to the beach, we go hiking and hunting. I have a ten-year old son. I wouldn’t stand behind a company that harms the environment.”
